Wild West Hunts offers an opportunity for 20-square miles of free-range hunting on prairie grasslands. Our fields and pastures provide the perfect habitat for pheasant, dove, deer, quail, rabbit and predator hunting - making for year ‘round opportunities. Our hunts are exclusive, and our territory is privately owned; ensuring that our game is available to you, and not over-hunted or stressed.

Cory West is known as one of the best guides in the state. He has a deep knowledge of the area, and understands wildlife movement and patterns. His years of experience and professional code places the client first.
West guides all hunters whether new to the tradition or well seasoned. He will advise on weather conditions, gear, dogs and every aspect of the experience.

Wild West Hunts are located in South Central Kansas; between Dodge City and Wichita in what’s known as the midgrass, or mixed grass prairie. Appropriately named, this area is the mid-range between the tall-grass prairie of the east, and the buffalo grass of the west (perfect for game
to hide, nest and thrive).
Your guide will show you through the three-foot tall little bluestem, wheatgrass and grama grass of this area, and point out the best spots for game. CLICK HERE to read more about your hunt.
Because this region sits mid-way between the Tallgrass and Shortgrass Prairies, our ecosystem maintains a wider variety of game. Your hunt is guided by Cory West, one of the best guides in the Midwest. He’ll take you across the midgrass prairie, around the best sandhill plum thickets and through the eastern red cedars.

Your evenings back at the West Lodge are taken care of by Mylisia West. Quiet, comfortable and completely outfitted rooms, baths, WIFI, big screen TV and delicious meals will keep you rested, fueled and ready for the next day.

And don’t forget your dogs!

They can stay warm and dry in our spacious and protected kennels, or come inside with you.

25 Years Guiding Experience

Growing up on the family farm (just a mile and a half away), Cory has been a hunting guide for 25 years and served as an independent contractor for a local hunting lodge for five of those years.

Cory has deep knowledge of the area, has
an understanding of wildlife movement, area weather patterns and changes in the landscape.

He’s also adept at guiding and teaching hunters of all ages and levels of experience. Because your safety is his number one concern, he will be glad to talk you through the correct gear, techniques and protocol to keep you safe throughout your hunting experience.
